HELP!!!! whenever I reboot my router the config is lost everytime. I'm absolutely sure to "copy run start" or "wr" however, I have to reload the config after every reboot. Could the read only flash be causing this problem? I am able to erase the flash, but when I reboot it appears as "read only". Thanks for any tips!!!

Router>sh flash

System flash directory:
File Length Name/status
1 15445320 c2500-js-l.122-5.bin
[15445384 bytes used, 1331832 available, 16777216 total]
16384K bytes of processor board System flash (Read ONLY)

Config's are stored in NVRAM, it might be corrupt. Could you post the output of a "sh ver" command. Todd VanDerwerken, CCNA, CCDA

What is you config-reg value? Be sure it is set to 0x2012.

Correction jamin123,

The config register should be set to 0x2102.

It´s perfectly normal that you get the READ-ONLY msg

4096K bytes of processor board System flash (Read ONLY)
Configuration register is 0x2102

If you change your config-register to 0x2101 you may read (Read/Write).

Though here that is not your problem, perhaps the router is booting in a register other than 0x2102 as guys here already said.

Please copy/paste the "show version" output.

kind regards,

Thanks for the tip,

I changed the config-reg from 0x2142 to 0x2102; problem solved.

Thanks again
