Hi all,

I'm very new to Premiere so may be missing something obvious, but I got my movie from my camera to my PC and it's now saved as an avi file and when I play it in WMP I get sound ok but when I put it into Premiere I lose the sound??

Can anyone advise please?

Thanks

More information is needed to help narrow down your problem.

Are you using DV or some other video format?

Do you have a capture card or are you using a FireWire port?

Can you hear audio from a Premiere clip window (double click a clip in the project window or timeline)?

Is the lack of audio only in the timeline output?

Thanks Akribie,

The format is DV
Using a Firewire port
Can't hear sound from a Premiere clip or the timeline
Audio from other applications are fine

In Project Settings/General, check that you have DV Playback.

Then click Playback Settings on the same page and choose the Output Option that fits what you are trying to achieve.

If that doesn't work, then open the audio mixer for your audio system (double click the speaker icon on the taskbar - if you have it showing) and check settings for playback.

sorted Akribie, it was the General options DV Playback!! thanks a lot mate.

That's good - running out of ideas after that !!
