No Sound after new install

Is your PC a brand name PC or custom built? If Brand name which brand and model?
You are probably missing the drives for your sound card. If you know the make and model of your Soundcard go to the Manufacturer's website, and download the drivers from them, and install them.

Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

Yep, I had the same problem with a laptop that had a fresh [re] install. Everything was working correctly except the sound drivers.
In my case, the Windows Update kept installing the wrong driver from the sound card. So I went to the manufacturer site to download the correct one.
