No secondary master. Is that supposed to be a problem? 1

Hi, everyone!

I just took out the secondary master from my computer; it's a DVD Writer which probably needs servicing (I had a thread in this forum about a week ago). Problem is that, when I boot, I get this error that the secondary master is not ATAPI compatible or something. It beeps a few times then I can press F1 and it works fine. Question is: is this supposed to happen or did I do something terribly wrong? Sure hope not...

Thanks in advance,
Vlad

When you physically removed DVD Writer, maybe you didn't update the BIOS, so it still thinks there should be drive there. Go into the BIOS and check. There will maybe be an Auto detect, then Save settings and reboot.

I completely forgot about updating the BIOS, because my slaves are set on autodetect (a friend comes by with his hard drive often). The secondary master, however, was set on DVD-RW, so that was a problem. Stupid of me.

Thank you for the advice. I almost feel stupid about posting such a trivial problem here. :(

Dont, its how we all learn!!
