I searched my computer and there seem to be no SAM files or .pwl files anywhere on it. I checked hidden files also. Is this a problem?

A 1/2 empty glass + 1/2 empty glass = 1 empty glass.

I forget where the .sam files are in '98, but the .pwl files are in one of the .ini (sys or win) files and won't show up in "search".

9x doesn't have SAM files (NT based systems do).

.pwl files all live directly under \windows. If there are none, it suggests no users have passwords set on your machine. This isn't a problem per se (but if you're actually using user names with blank passwords - rather than no logon details at all - it can cause problems with dial-up and ordinary networking - if you're using either).

Thanks wolluf, no wonder I couldn't remember where the SAM files were!
