When I removed my Sound Blaster Audigy card from my PC and attemptedt to use the on-board sound I cant seems to get any sound out.

The Device Manager reports: 'This device cannot start (Code 10)'.

Any ideas?

Download the latest drivers from the manufactures website (who you have forgotten to mention)
Also check your mobos BIOS and make sure onbaord sound is set to enabled
You may need to install a program (for example on my pc an ASUS A7V8X-X) i have to install a program called Soundmax

Would make it an alternate source, get your drivers from the M/B manufacturer. Only if those don't work do you go to the audio manufacturer.

Motherboard chipset drivers.

I have tracked dowm the Motherboard drivers and installed some Sound drivers that was present - no luck.

I have checked that the on-board sound is set to enable.

Its a Gigabyte motherboard 700MHz, and I did flash the BIOS but could not find and else to download from the suppliers site.

Need some diagnostic software, will search for SystemWorks as recommended by a friend.
