Hi Satish,

Maybe I'm completely wrong here (it has been known) but I thought the block size had more to do with the number of extents you're allowed in an object (and even that goes away > 7.3) rather than the maximum num of data-files, *that's* configurable in your init.ora file for that DB.

Someone jump in and correct me if I'm wrong please.

Mike
michael.j.lacey@ntlworld.com
<a href=
Hi Satish

As Mike told block size noway concern with No of datafiles.
Maximum no of datafiles depends on your OS. Whenever you create database you have to mention the Maximum datafiles in your control file. In WinNT it allows 1024 files. You Init.ora parameter shouldn't exceed more than control parameter. If you want to increase more than control specified then you have to re-create the control file.

S.Kirubakaran
Kirubakaran_s@lta.gov.sg
