Hey all,

I am sure that I am overlooking something here, but a client wanted me to install XP Pro on a Vaio that was running Me. I downloaded the realtek drivers for XP, but the device manager says that the driver cannot be loaded. Tried the same thing with Linksys WUSB54G USB adapter, downloaded the driver, installed it, but the device manager will not load the driver. Now I have no ability to connect to the internet to run any kind of updates.

Any help, sarcastic or otherwise, will be most appreciated.

Thanks.

Have you checked the Sony website for any available drivers for your machine. I know a few years ago when I did the same thing with a VAIO PCG-FX215 I found all of the drivers I needed on the Sony site and they all worked. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Yeah I went to Sony, and downloaded everything that seemed appropriate. Nothing helped. In the device manager the Linksys, the Realtek RTL8139, the 1394 net adapter, the direct parallel, the wan miniport packet scheduler miniport, the wan miniport PPTP and PPPOE are all listed as unknown, with an exclamation point. The error code is 31 for all of them, and the message is that windows cannot load the drivers required for the device.

Thanks.

Make sure that you have installed the motherboard drivers as otherwise the other devices will not work correctly. If you need further help let us know the Model number of the VAIO
