No laptop power light

have a compaq armada which will not power up, either with AC adapter or battery. No status lights at all.

Have removed the battery and tried to power it up with just the ac adapter but no joy either. Any ideas?

Check to make sure the adapter is giving good power,with a voltmeter, if it is, then you have a bad system board,might just be a power connector broken free from the board,easy to solder another one in place,if you are both confident of soldering,and taking apart the laptop which is nothing like working on the desktop machines.

I shall use google before asking stupid questions!
