Hello.

Here's my problem: I lost my internet connection 2 days ago. I've ran SpyBot and Panda (antivirus). It found a couple of adwares but that's it. I've ran an internet connection test and Windows sez I'm connected. When I try to access the internet I notice the following line in my browser:

downloading from site:
res://c:\windows\system32xpsp3res.dll/dnserror.htm

I think this could be the source of the problem. I would appreciate any tips, help, etc.

WinXP Home

Great forum.

Thanks!!!

This seems to go hand in hand with malware corruption. First start off with some simple tasks like clearing the History, Cookies, and Temp files and seeing if the problem still occurs. This is probably a Winsock corruption. Try the WinSock XP Fix Tool and use the Reg-Backup feature to backup your registry before you start the repair.

Check out this KB article as it suggests searching for and renaming any wsock32.dll file that is not located in the Windows\System folder as a fix.

- Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site

Also suggest running another SpyWare software besides SpyBot, like Windows Defender, to see if it picks up more spyware files that SpyBot could not find.
