Hi,

I experienced a problem with our Win2k server and now there are no computers that can be seen from network neighborhood of the server. I can ping the server from any workstation and the server can ping any pc as well, but all the shared folders in the server are inaccessible.

I am not very familiar with the technical terms of server admin so please make your reply as easily understood as possible.

Thanks.

Well, well, well
i suppose that your clients are w9x.
W9x are using NetBIOS.
If ping on name and IP address is working is because you have a working IP network and maybe a good DNS server.
But W9x needs NetBIOS, so you have to check in your server, on the interface used for that connection, on IP / Properties / Advanced / Wins / if you have NetBIOS over IP checked.
Also, a good rule is to install a WINS server (can be on the same server that you are talking about).
Then, you will not have browsing network problems.
