I am running a pure win2k environment and am having a strange problem with one of my servers. I have two locations connected through a hardware VPN. It is the same domain at both sites. Site 1 is the main site that has the fsmo master as well as the mail server. Those that work at Site 2 have their own Internet access with the static VPN to Site 1. Site 2 users use Outlook in the Corporate mode, pointed to the mail server at Site 1. This works without issue. I was having problems with the browser service so I disabled it on most all workstations and all but two servers. The mail server now fluctuates in what is visible in Network Neighborhood, although browsing using FQDN is not an issue and ping commands work. So I don't think there is a DNS issue. The users at Site 2 have difficulty using Outlook when the mail server at Site 1 cannot see the Neighborhood. When the Neighborhood is present on the mail server, then Outlook at Site 2 works normal.
I think this these problems are related, but haven't found any answers to solve it. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
