I have a Sony VAIO laptop with XP Home. Lately the battery status has not been showing on the status bar, even though it is set to under Power Options in the Control Panel. First it was intermittently missing, now I can never get it back. Is this a known problem with XP? Newposter

Have you tried turning off 'Hide inactive icons'? <right click> system tray> properties> Hide... <tick box> >uncheck. Please let us know what you think of posts, feedback is always appreciated as this will help to further our knowledge as well.

Thanks, but 'Hide inactive icons' is turned off already.

This problem cropped up maybe every 3 or 4 bootups, but I was able to go into the Control Panel and toggle the battery status off and on again, then it would appear on the status bar. Now it never appears anymore. And I didn't load any additional software; I run a virus scan every week with the latest updates; I run a good firewall with tight settings; and there are no other glitches at all, hardware or software, with the machine.
