No backslash key

Hello,

I have tried 3 different keyboards on a clients computer to fix a backslash key (\) that doesn't work, all the other keys work fine. The computer is in a pretty poor state with an OS (Windows ME) that has become corrupted so the keyboard is failing to work properly in DOS.

It is either a registry corruption in the Scan Code mapping values, or an issue with the keyboard decoder chip on the motherboard.

My bet would be hardware (the decoder), as this is not an uncommon problem over time.

At some point you buy a new computer and upgrade the OS. This seems to me to be the time.
