MY
I have Premier 6.5, and have captured avi files from my sony PDX10 (using pinnacle firewire capture, 48K audio). When I capture files the bin shows there is audio. When I drag the avi files to the timeline there is audio. HOWEVER, when I drag the clip to the source monitor in dual view, it only indicates vision. The icon at the bottom of the window does not show audio, and no audio plays.
Any clues? Is this to do with my camera settings, or is there something simple in premiere I haven't figured out? The capture settings say the avi is stereo, yet the file indicates it is mono.
Tech details: AMD Athalon 1800, GeForce 4, 512 Mb RAM, Windows XP.

Cheers

Depends what you are doing.

It sounds as if you are dragging from the timeline into the source monitor. If so, that is why you are not getting the audio - that's how Premiere (up to 6.5, at least) works. Don't ask why!

Drag from project to source window and try that. You should have both video and audio options available. If not, you have a setup problem somewhere. Start with the settings viewer and resolve any major issues with CODECs.

If still stuck, post a bit more detail of your actions to generate this problem and what capture system you are using.
