'morning. Almost all my NIM resources have entered a "Not available for use" state without any explanation. Only SPOT and lpp_source are there. How did this happen? What do I do now?

Thanks in advance

Everything except SPOT and lpp_source which are allocated to a machine group.
It's Rstate that's unavailable.

Cheers

Have you checked /var/adm/ras/nimlog file?

HTH,

Post an answer if you find one. I'm curious about this.

/var/adm/ras/nimlog is empty.

Cheers

Long shot: I think the nimlog is on nim clients also - perhaps one of your clients did something unspeakable to your server and hopefully it is logged there?

HTH,

Another Long Shot.....Did a different machine take-over/fail-over as master?

You've got one or more clients set to be migrated or installed.

Ok, I've tried these suggestions but nothing works. It's the only NIM server and nothing is allocated to anything :-(
I'm getting a bit desperate.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Cheers

you could try unconfiguring it, uninstalling it, then reinstalling it I suppose.

Yeah maybe. What is "Rstate" anyway?

Cheers

short for Resource state I guess

HTH,

p5wizard

Have you tried adding new resourcesand new machines? Does that work?

Hi,
running the command

/usr/lpp/bos.sysmgt/nim/methods/m_chattr -a Rstate=available <resource>

on all the resources did it. I still don't know what caused it!

Cheers
