Here goes. I have a 1.6Ghz PC with 512MB Ram, CDRW, CD/DVD, Nvidia TNT2 M64 video card, floppy, DataLink NIC.
It had 2 WD hds and then one crashed. I had them both replaced with ST 40GB hdds. I had a 3COM NIC card in and XP Home.
When I got the new hdds I went back to 98SE. I also had a CD/DVD cd drive put in. Everything works EXCEPT the NIC card. So I bought a DataLink. I finally got the IRQs from 11 on video and NIC to 11 on video and 10 on NIC (or visa versa). I'm on my other PC to get to tek-tips. I hope someone can help.
The NIC card acts like it is trying to connect (the blue line at the bottom bar is showing up). I am on a wireless at 256K speed. It is trying to connect(?) at the rate of a 1200 baud modem.
I have tried everything I can think of. The ISP guy came out and ran his laptop with the modem cable and it is sending packets. The guy who repaired the computer could get on the internet with his wireless.
winipcfg will not work on the PC. It tries but quits after about a minute or so. The DNS, etc have been checked many times and are entered correctly (for those of you who will ask this). The ISP guy also checked them.
If someone can give me some pointers on what to do I will greatly appreciate it. All of the techies here will too.
