NIC Failure in HP Desktops

We have recieved two desktops from HP that have had identical problems with Broadcom addapters. The Network connection will fail. Only visable symptom is that we see massive amounts of data being sent per second. (In the billions of packets.) The switch port is not seeing this data.

Has anyone seen this problem?

Going to the HP support ITRC forums and searching for "Broadcom NIC problems" turns up a plethora of results, all of them being dead links. Conspiracy? I think so...

I would check that you have the latest driver from HP's support site, but gigabit PCI NICs are really cheap these days, and replacement might avoid an ongoing headache.

All of that was done. HP suggested rebuilding the system on the first go around. They are now sending us a new mother board for the two computers. Unfortunatly I kid of suspect that the problem is simpler then that.
