I previously had a problem with my laptop's NIC (National Semi Conductor - not NETGEAR) not being able to register an IP address to it. Now I finally got a static IP listed in "ifconfig" but i keep getting the following message! sis0: watchdog timeout

Quick search on google reveals it has to do with the cable. I switched CAT5 cables three times and that didnt fix it. Just to make sure I checked the status on my switch and it doesnt light up. If i boot into XP, it works fine. I even tried plugging into the switch and that didnt help.

I would hate to turn to XP or even RH 9.

That's an odd one. Have you tried posting in the freebsd-hardware mailing list?
