Hi Folks,

Im new to netware so trying to figure things out as I go along. I have a pc running Netware 5 with 3 NIC's installed. One cat5 only card, the other two are combo cards. It was originaly setup to run one cat5 and the other two have BNC connected. Because of a problem with one of the BNC strands, I have had to rewire that part of the network with cat 5. The problem is im not sure where to tell Netware/NIC to use the RJ45 port instead of the BNC. Does anyone know how to do this? Would it be easier to install a new Cat5 NIC and if so can anyone point me to a TIC for instructions on how to setup a new NIC?

Thanks for any help!

depends on type of card

if for example it's a 3com then it can be set on card - ie you need to run 3c5x9cfg and modify it it there

i dont think there is any setting from within side netware -

Thanks Terry

I will give that a go tomorrow moring. I think it may be a "3com EtherLink III" NIC. I beleive this NIC is only 10baseT on RJ45. How complicated would it be to install a new 100mhz NIC? I have a spare D-Link DFE-530TX and a Realtek RTL8139C. Would any of these be easy enough to setup?

Thanks again.

I've never seen a combo nic with the capability to control that from the Netware driver. It's usually from the NIC configuration utility where you either hard code it or set it to autodetect.

dfe 30 is ok

no idea about other one but it's simple - the 530 already has a driver but i would pop up to dlink and get the latest
