Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to run the NFS mount daemon on a reserved port to make it more secure. This is on Solaris 7/8.

Regards
Rich

in /etc/system on Solaris 2.5.1 and later on the nfs server. set nfssrv:nfs_portmon = 1

See the docs.sun.com website and look for the tunable parameters manual. You may have compatibility issues mounting from other Unixes, Solaris clients should work fine as they use priviledged ports. AIX for example requires

/usr/sbin/nfso -o nfs_use_reserved_ports=1

in the client startup /etc/rc.nfs script
