I'm moving from asp to php. I have a for profit project that I am going to use as a learning project. What are your top recommended sources for a newbie like me. Syntax etc. is usually pretty easy for me to pick up. What I really am looking for is a good site that has good templates/downloads that I could leverage to get looking professional fast. Free or inexpensive is what I'm looking for.

I would have to say you're looking at the best resource for learning. Search the forums for what it is you want to do. You will either find the thread in the forum or in the FAQ. Another great recourse is the online manual at php.net. When I first started learning a few years ago I bought PHP and MySql Web Development. It was a great reference.
However, I've found that the online resources are 100x better and free.
