I just installed VB6 today and have never done anything in it before. I have been programming Perl/CGI for four years so I'm not new to programming/scripting.

1) Can you make skins for the workspace? Do you just make an image and somehow import it?

2) Can VB do live things? For example, a game of Pong? Or is it like Perl where it's only done once and waits for more input?

3) How hard is it to connect to a website and parse it's HTML codes? I have a perl link popularity check I want to get to work in VB which parses a search engine and pulls back numbers.

4) I googled and came across a few sites, but what sites do YOU recommend for learning VB6? I'd like practical uses like a step by step to create a calculator, how to make a button switch screens and show results, how to import images/sounds, etc.

Thanks everyone!

1. Do you mean the environment? Through the OS is one way.

2. Yes, and yes VB is event driven and single threaded but there are ways to get around these limitations.

3. Search webbrowser

4. See partners box lower left of this page (and any site that has well documented code should be able to help you)

Also download at least SP5 for VB6 (SP6 is out)

Also See FAQ222-2244 to get the most from these forums

Good Luck
