Hi all, I have enquiry on the Windows 2003 NLB. Need advice from all.

1) Is there a different configuration between Win2000 NLB and Win2003 NLB?

2)Must both servers have the same hardware spec. and same software install? For example ISA to be install on both Servers.

3)Must both servers have 2 NIC each? 1st NIC is to Public Network and 2nd NIC is the 'heartbeat',which will connected one another??

Pls advice.

Thanks and Regards

I am not sure about the differences between W2K and W2K3 NLB as I have not had the opportunity to look at it in detail, howver I can answer your other two questions.

- we have a load balanced system running on two different server platforms. (Compaq Proliant 8500 and compaq DL 580G2). I have encountered no problems with this configuration.
- We have two NIC's in each server. The ports are numbered as follows Card 1 Ports 1 and 2, Card 2 ports 3 and 4.

Ports 1 and 3 are teamed together and run the "external" network. Ports 2 and 4 are teamed and run the "internal" heartbeat.

I hope this helps

Hi ChrisRAnthony, thanks for your reply and advice.

At least now I know which NIC team with which.

And I think I'll need to borrow some related books from Library.

Thanks anyway.

Thanks and Regards
