Hello All,

Just am new at MPLS. But my question is: does anyone has an sample of a simple MPLS static route not OSPF/BGP/IS-IS configuation? Our company has 4 remote site that we are going to switch to mpls.

Thanks

MPLS is only a layer 2 (well perhaps layer 2.5 I suppose) technology. IP is layer 3 which basically means you configure a static route exactly the same way on a Cisco whether it be for MPLS, Frame Relay or ATM for example.

Assuming your MPLS WAN interface is Serial0/0, just create a static route as follows:

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 serial0/0

KiscoKid,

Thanks for the reply. Do i have to enable MPLS my Serial interface then?

Thanks

No not at all. Your device is designated as a CE (customer edge) device. CE's don't need to be MPLS-enabled to connect to an MPLS network. All the fancy MPLS labelling etc is done at the PE (provider edge) devices which are under your ISP's control.

KiscoKid,

Thank you very much.

Thanks
Tony
