i have never used cgi anything
i have a form on my website

and would like to make it better
or at least not submitted through user interface email
if you could please offer tips advice or websites where i can find something easy to follow and specific to my issue

Unfortuantely I think you are limited to Tripod's form mail program and user interface mail. Their cgi-bin has been disabled to a great extent. I don't know what your funds are, but there are a ton of web hosting companies out there that will give you space for $5/month with 10 megs of space and real cgi-bin and sendmail capabilities. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
