Brand new to Avaya/Definity/Audix.

Phones are LUCENT/AVAYA 8410D

Simple question. Just got a new job with an OLD phone system running off of a Windows NT box named "GEDI"

okay....so If I am standing at a phone, list me the commands I can use (on the phone itself) to find

[ul]
what EXTENSION it is using
[/ul]

[ul]
what PORT it is using
[/ul]

Or let me know if this is not possible?

Thanks for your help!!!

Depending on the age of the software, there may be a feature avalable called Station Self Display. It is accessed by dialing the feature code from the station. You will need to access the PBX to find the access code for the feature.

If you only need the extension number, you can call another station with a display of the attendant (operator).

if you have Gedi ..i know you said standing at a phone...but type "li sta" that will give you the system, card location, and port on card the command above from Kevin will give you what he states but if its not available this will get you out of a hole.
So i would work from gedi get your info and then locate the phones via sta number on the shop floor that way you can create a correct audit trail/ patching or TJF schedual.

Thanks for the responses. I have already exported the station list into excel and printed them out. When you say "access the PBX" to find that feature code is that via Definity on the Gedi box?

thanks,

I think so. If you have access to the PBX using GEDI, just do 'display features'.

gedi gets you this with the above command what do you mean definity?

Definity is the "site administration" software we use. Within that, you can connect to "gedi" or connect to "audix" which is the voicemail portion.

The name of the NT computer it is running on is "gedi" as well, which may have been confusing.

ok ASA is what you are talking about Gedi is the customer based front end ..which is fine if you go advanced start emulation that gives you full system control providing you have sufficent login rights, do you have the info you require?

I ran into a separate problem. I can't get into Gedi because of some communications error. It says "Warning: RX overrun on serial port - check port settings" in the History log. But you guys have pointed me in the right direction

fixed that issue. Turns out it just requires unplugging and plugging a cable back in to get rid of that error. So let me look at the features and I'll report back if I'm able to do what I'm trying to do. thx

I found the "change feature-access codes" menu under "system" and there's are four tabs. None of the tabs have a feature for Station self display or anything like that. Oh well, I guess I'll keep looking around in there. Thanks anyway.

Okay, I found an acceptable workaround! I actually used the help system and for once in my life, the help section actually worked (and I'm including microsoft and any other help section that has ever been printed). I found a command "station status ###" so, you have to know the extension number, but it was more the port number I was trying to find an easy way to get a port number associated with a phone/extension.

thanx all
