I have a IBM aptiva and it has a built in sound card. I just got yamaha oplsax sound card and it wont work because it doesnt have enough system resources for both i dont know how to turn off the built in one or what i need to do ive tried just uninstalling the factory one but windows reinstalls it everytime it restarts. please help me here.

Have you tried disabling it in the BIOS? There should bean option to do it. There may also be a jumper on the motherboard that is responsible for this. Windows will install all the drivers as they are already on the machine unless you disable it. So try the BIOS settings. Then it should work.

Yuo can get some info here, although it will take a bit of searching. That's if you haven't got the manual that says how to do it:
hope it's useful :)

One other thing you can try if what xscape's suggestions don't work, you can disable the hardware in device manager, that should free up the resources, this is NOT a guarentee. Mike Wills
