I have an Asus p5GD2 premium mobo..
775 intel 3.2 Ghz
geforce 6600 pcixe
160 Sata

Installing win xp works fin until after the first reboot. While installing drivers I get the window asking for permission to install unsigned drivers for things like the Keyboar mouse and IDE controllers and System. Tried several different versions of XP and tried the SATA drivers for the mobo on install, even tried win2000 pro. Same problems or variations of the same problems. Any suggestions would be helpful at this point.

Are you referring to the first reboot during the setup phase or the first reboot after installation is complete?

If you are talking about after the XP installation, XP will warn you that such drivers are unsigned, but it's acceptable to use drivers from your device manufacturer even if they are unsigned as long as the manufacturer stipulates they are the correct drivers for XP.

Digital Signature Benefits for Windows Users

tried installing the manufacturer's drivers.. how ever I still have the problem. It still fails. It does this even for the keyboard. It's a bizzar thing.

Have you checked Control Panel/ System/ Hardware/ Driver Signing? See what options are checked in there.

If you have it set to Block, this specifies that device drivers without a digital signature cannot be installed. The installation process stops when attempting to install an unsigned device driver.

The more usual setting is to Warn, this specifies that a warning is displayed when attempting to install any device driver without a digital signature. The installation process stops briefly so that you can decide whether to cancel or continue the installation process.

You are an Administrator?

Can you clarify if you are referring to the first reboot during the setup phase or the first reboot after installation is complete?

Dunno why I should have relized earlier. But the problem was a bad stick of ram. Thank you all for you suggestions
