question...if I never had exchange installed before, nor lotus notes nor groupwise, let's say no email system on my domain. how do I add those hundreds of users to exchange once I install it?

thanks in advance,

Mailboxes will automatically be added for the existing users.

You can also add a mailbox to any user by right clicking them in AD Users & Computers and selecting Exchange Tasks, Create Mailbox.

Make sure when you install Exchange you also install SP2 on both the Exchange box and on the DC install the Exchange tools and SP2.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

very helpful indeed Mark,

thanks for the reply

You're looking for an automated way so you don't have to key in each user by hand?

well, yeah. I'm just looking into getting into exchange.

the problem I see is there are 100's of users already there with no email system...

is there a tool "migration tool"? I thought that would be only if you already have a mail system in place...

No need to try and Migrate anything. The Exchange Install will set you up, no worries.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

ok ok ok.... now what is this thing about LDIFDE and CSVDE ?? could I use this to export/import user accounts?

How am I NOT being clear? There is nothing to import if you already have users in AD.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
