I am trying to learn VB and want to make a project to search a specific directory for doc files and when it finds the file with the correct name in the string it opens the file with word. I just unwrapped VB6 and got 2 nice books to reference. How would you folks start this? Zorro

look up the dir function, there are some nice examnples for this and actually what you are trying to do is a nice way to come to grips with the concepts of VB. You will need to reference the word object library in your app by going to project/references/microsoft word obejct library and ticking that option. The rest you should get from one of your manuals. easy stuff though. good luck
