my company is looking into purchasing oracle standard edition. problem is we want to purchase it installed on the hardware platform. does anyone know where we can get this?

You would have to talk to your hardware vendors. I know Sun and Oracle used to be pretty tightly affiliated and provided this sort of thing; them may still do that.

If you can't find a vendor who will sell you a box w/ Oracle already installed, you might consider hiring a contractor to install it after the box comes in. That way you can at least specify how/where you want it installed.

Hi,
carp, as usual, has it right..Oracle is not an 'out of the box' bit of software; Its real strength lies in its configurablity ( I assume that is a word) to match an enterprise's needs, so any pre-cooked setup will not be what you really need.
Get a good consultant and get it right the first time.
( This assumes your company has analysed its needs and can assist the consultant in understanding your needs)

As a follow-up:
Not only do you need to install the Oracle server on the box, but you will also need to create your database. This deserves a great deal of planning ahead of time - not only your logical structures, but also your physical layout (which files will go on which drives) as well as your network requirements.

Getting Oracle installed on a server is actually relatively simple. It's what follows that will require a high degree of expertise. If your company does not feel capable of installing the software, then you definitely will need help getting your database, applications, web sites, etc set up afterward. I strongly recommend your company start looking for very specific skills on either a temporary or permanent basis.

thanks for the advice. let me pass this by one of our project managers and see what they say.
