New Tapes

I have a set of tapes that were used in a previous server.
I erased the tapes and gave them a new Label. When I try to use the tapes I get the message "insert Unused media"

Is there a way to erase the tapes so that they appear as new tapes?

We use dlts that have been previously written to by HPs MPE/iX sometimes, a quick erase makes them usable for us. What have you got your media overwrite protection level set to. Ours is set to none, but with the prompt before overwritng selected.
