We installed a new tape drive yesterday and last nights backup failed. The error on the log file is as follows:

The media provided to continue the backup already contains data from one or more sets created during this operation. The operation can not be continued.

We are running backup exec 7.3.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Had the job already written data to the tape? That error almost invariably happens when the tape gets full during a backup job.

Well we figured it out!
The new drive was named differently than before so I thought the installers would have changed it in config but...nope!
So all is working well now.
Thanks so much for your response.
