I am trying to get a new T-1 PRI set up in my G3si V6 switch. I think I have everything set up correctly but when I status the trunk group I get OOS/FE-PINS-idle on all of the channels. Our providor, SBC says they see the channels are idle.

Any ideas as to what I may have wrong? I would enjoy communicating via the phone if anybody is willing to help me. My phone number is 918-621-1906, my name is Ron.

Thanks in advance,

Ron--

Hi Ron. If your signalling group is in-service, than I would ask SBC to take the B-channels down and bring them back up. Sometimes the B channels need a little kick start. If your signalling group is down, test your T1 board and let us know the results. That can usually tell you quite a bit. Other things you can try: Make sure you don't have anything busied out (T1 board, signalling group, trunk group) and make sure all your physical connectivity is good.

Hope that helps

Ron,

In a G3siV6 there are 2 possible configurations for installing an ISDN-PRI circuit:

A DS-1 board (TN767 or TN464) and a port on a Processor Interface board (TN765)

A TN464 board and having the Packet Bus board (TN778) installed and the ISDN over PACCON bit enabled on the Customer Options form.

Do you have the signaling group built?

Kevin

does your Ds1 protocol version match what the provider is sending? what type of switch is the PRI coming out of from the CO? the protocol must match in order for the b-channels to come up, even tho the D-channel might be in-service and the b-channels not.

Thanks for all your comments. I solved the problem. I had trouble finding the correct code for the DS1 protocol. After I changed it to "B" all worked correctly.

So we had a bad port on pur patch panel and after moving it some of the ports are showing INS-PINS-idle or INS-PINS-Active. We are processing calls on these ports but I'm worried. Anybody got any ideas?

for anyone else it appears this is semi-normal behaviour, it went away a few minutes later

INS-PINS = INService- PendingINService.

? Pending States
In addition to one of the above components, the service state may have a
pending component, indicating that the switch is waiting for a reply from the
far-end. These service states remain in effect until either a response is
received or the allotted waiting time expires.
—Pending-in-Service
The near-end is waiting for a response from the far-end to a
B-channel maintenance message requesting that the B-channel be
transitioned to in-service.
