Hi all,

I had an issue this week I was hoping you can help me with. We use Surfcontrol v4.7 as our smarthost. I have built a new server with v5.0 with the same config. The plan is to take ip address of the old server and put it on the new server so I don't have to modify the MX record. Simple enough.

When I made the change one of my two bridgehead servers that send mail over the smtp connector to my smarthost was unable to deliver mail. One bridgehead was fine. All of the messages sent through the problem one were kicked back with the following error:

There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator.
<server1.mydomain.net #5.5.0 smtp;551 This is not a relay host - mail must be to or from host domain.>

I can understand mail queueing up but not sending back this message. Relaying is enabled on the connector and on the smtp virtual server. It worked fine before the change. I can understand if the message came from the smarthost but not from my exchange system. It should have been forwarded on. Routing table? Any idea? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Kevin
