New Scrollbar in Flash MX 3

Hey all,

bought Flash MX, they included some standard components. The problem is the new scrollbar, if I load in a text file (with a var text=this scroller is working ...and so on) in a dynamic textfield the scrollbar don't scroll. And if there isn't so much info provided with those components. I would like to know who knows how it works.

And does someone got an example how this works? if you have tips or comments send them to me. I am a human and humans could give wrong answers

Under Help->Using Flash have you looked at (or search for!) Create Scrolling Text, and/or Using Components?

Before I posted this message I started looking for the anwser to this problem in flash.

And started with "The ScrollBar component" followed the right steps they describe there, but when I tried to test the movie the scrollbar didn't scroll.

So if someone could tell me what I am doing wrong, I would be very pleased.

I describe my steps:
1. insert dynamic textfield, variable name: text_field
2. actionscript of loading the text(using loadvariables), what have to display in the dynamic textfield from text.txt (text_field=this is the text)
3. adding a scrollbar from the components (dragging it on to the textfield

more does the helpfile not say.

So I really haven't got a clue if you have tips or comments send them to me. I am a human and humans could give wrong answers

solved a little, now I know that this component works with internal text what is typed directly into the dynamic textfield.

But now loading the text from an external file (.txt file)
does that work also? if you have tips or comments send them to me. I am a human and humans could give wrong answers

We're talking about using the scrollbar component of Flash MX, when loading text from a text file.

Orbipth, I can't get it to work either, but I've asked around. Will possibly get some answers!

Just learned that this whole thing is in fact bugged, and a technote is soon to come out of Macromedia:

There's a zip package in the second link, of another apparently working example.

The problem is really when loading text from a text file.
HTML formating may also remain a problem!

Great job old! I worked on trying to get this to work last night for an hour or so with no luck, and since this is something I will use in the future you can have my vote also.
