Hi there, we have just changed over to an ADSL line, and after much fiddling, we now have internet access accross our network and out going emails too, but no incoming.

We are running a main server Windows NT4 and an email server NT4 with Microsoft Exchange 5.5.

I have checked all the port forwarding on the router thus:

Service startport endport IP Address
STMP 25 25 192.168.0.7
POP3 110 110 192.168.0.7

This is the address of the email server. I have changed the DNS address in the network properties in control panel, but no where else as I don't know where else to look.

So now we can send out, but they are not coming in.

Is there something I have to do within Microsoft Exchange that will need changing in order to get them through?

Is your DNS MX record configured to point to the WAN address of your router?

I can try telnetting into port 25 on this IP if you like. Post your domain name if you want me to try this.

ok, I have found part of the problem, in that I did not know that our mail was coming from somewhere else.

I have just got onto our provider, and have an IP address that it is all going to come through to, but i don't know how to configure it in Microsoft Exchange.

I am presuming that it will come through the router and firewall straight into our Email server but I don't know how to make sure of this.

I am thinking Connections - Routing tab is this right?

Please note the word presuming. I am a little lost here, but not incompetent.

Kind regards
Rob
