i am getting ready to build a new server to replace my pdc. i understand i need to install nt on the new machine and then bring it online as a bdc. does the sam and user info automatically get copied over when i do this? next i then designate it to become the pdc. my problem is this... my pdc is my print server also. ( i came to this company and it was like this) so i would assume i need to install all of the printers on my new server. then when i bring it online as the pdc what problems will the clients have when printing? do i need to change anything on the clients if the new pdc has a different name? sorry for all of the questions. if someone knows of a book that i can uy to help my with is or hwat articles on ms knowledge base work good i would appreciate it.

You will have to change the mappings on the clients network printers to point to the new server. However, if the current PDC is not going to be on the network any longer, once the new server is up and the old one is down, you could change the name of the new server to the name of the old server and it should work.

Might be worth a try..
