I was modifying my backup job in Arcserve 9 today and noticed folders that I have created in my directory since I last modified the backup job weren't selected to be backed up. As I looked around I saw other folders that probably fit that same situation.
Well, I don't backup everything on the 4 volumes. What I have done in the past is select everything on all the volumes then deselected those folders I didn't want to have backed up. Is that not the correct way to do this? What I saw concerned me that I wasn't getting good and complete backups. How to I go about making sure that everything that is put on the server gets backed up, but at the same time making sure those things I don't want backup up don't get backed up?
You would have to select the full volumes (this ensures that newly created files and directories will be backed up) and set up filters so that certain directories are bypassed by the backup.
It's been a while since I have set up filters and can't help you at this point because I am not in front of an Arcserve console. You can either look through the Arcserve help menu or maybe someone else can direct you on setting up filters.
