Hi,

Using SBS 2003 & Exchange 2003

I had to re-install IIS and Exchange earlier today due to IIS becoming a bit pi**ed off with Sharepoint ( but thats another story :|).

The re-installation all went fine but there is now a strange issue with received emails, every email that is received is now sent twice to each receipient, once to the correct email address eg User1@domain.com, the other message is sent to the same user but somewhere along the way it has got the following added to it's email address mspop3connector.User1@domain.com

When the user receives an email in outlook in now has the To box filled in with eg User1;IMB Receipient 1 when it has only been sent to User1, the IMB email address produces an error that is returned to the exchange administrator but it is just an 'email account does not exist' error report.

I have checked in all the usual places and confirmed that the exchange settings are as they should be and everythign appears to be okay.

Does anyone have any suggestions what the cause might be for this problem.

TIA

I should have said that this problem is only happening with External email the Internal system is working properly.

In the Internet and mail wizard (yuk, but what can ya do), under the pop connector, look at the settings. You may have set the delivery up incorrectly.

Thanks for the reply.

The POP3 connector is all setup correctly i.e. Global mailbox, email domain all of that is correct.

I am receiving email okay, it is just that Exchange seems to be trying to deliver it to 2 different email addresses, 1 is correct the other has the mspop3connector added to the front of the valid email address.

I encountered the same problem after I reinstalled the Exchange server.

Did you find out what caused this problem?

Hi,

Apparently it is some problem between the POP3 Connector and the IIS Metabase.

I did the following to sort it out:

Run IMBREG.EXE from \program files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Networking\POP3.

Cheers

The problem is: check if old connector is in routing groups->delete it if not in use.
