New dreamweaver user!

Hello, I hope someone can help me. I am in the process of establishing a small business and I had decided to build a website myself (for my sins)! Between juggling the business and managing my two babies, it is becoming difficult to find time to sit and study a manual. I am almost complete but having a few problems tweaking it so that I am completely satisfied.

The browser that I use is Firefox. I had built the website and hadnt realised that when you open up the internet explorer browser, it looks quite differnt to when you view it on Firefox - does anyone know a way of getting around this?

The main differences is the spacing and also it seems to have taken all the lines off the boxes when viewed in internet explorer. I'm completely stuck!

Really hope someone can point me in the right direction. The more simpler the instruction, the better.

This is due to the way IE renders things. It is not standards compliant as is firefox. And therefore when designing a website, you have to be weary of the differences.

Unfortunately there is no simple way to do it. You would have to revise the code, and chage things around to get IE to behave correctly. For Starters a Full and Valid Doctype, to
make IE adhere to standards better might help.

Hi, i am also new to DreamWeaver and i had the same problem... i did a short course and the teacher informed me that there is no way to get around it. Basically most people use explorer, so you would be better of building a website that suits explorer better as opposed to firefox. In DreamWeaver you press F12 to view in Explorer and Shift+F12 to view in Firefox - i tend to just keep an eye on them both as i build on the site.
Not sure if i was any help there...

I have a question for you though, do you know how to link the submit button on a form to am email? on my website the 'submit' button, links to nothing..

Your teacher is wrong. While you can rarely make an even moderately complex page 100% identical in Firefox and IE, you can make them look close enough.
It does take a little bit of work though.

If you have specific issues, please ask. Someone here has done it before.
