New Distribution point

I have a secondary SMS site at a remote site, due to lack of disk space on the Secondary Site Server, I put in a stand alone server & made it a distribution point. I removed the distribution point settings from the site server so that the stand alone server would be the only distribution point.
However, when I update distribution points or add any new packages, sms still copies a PKG file to the site server????

Please Help
