I have a client that has a SX 200 at their site. They just went through a change from Bell Canada service with ground start and loop start lines coming into the system (There were two types of lines, GS and LS, in the equiv group that I thought kind of strange and never come across before) to a Voip service that comes in via cable, Cogeco Cable Phone Service.

Now there is no ringing at the front console when some one calls in to the hotel. The AA picks up occasionally and can route a call successfully but most of the time the inbound caller just hears a ring no answer.

Do the Line Cards need to be reconfigured for the "analog" lines coming from the cable voip adapters or is there an adjustment that needs to be made on the console for "Ring and Appear" or is there and AA issue that needs to be adjusted?

As well, we had to deactivate the answering service on the VoIP line as it was taking messages but no one at the console could retrieve the messages because they couldn't get Line 1 to access the messages. The console always gave the bottom available number in the equiv group

Many thanks in advance for the assistance and recommendations.
Regards

You need to verify jumper on card for LS/GS setting, I assume all are now LS. Also verify where they are programmed to ring to.

Hi thank you for responding back.
Is the "jumper" that you are referring to on the card itself or is it a dip switch?
Will verify the ringing destination. It hasn't changed from the legacy service provisioning.
The only thing that has changed it the "flavour" of the dial tone coming into the SX 200 box; meaning GS/LS lines (both types were present before cut over on the system) and now it is LS from the cable VoIP modem.
Should it not work the same after cutover to cable VoIP dial tone service?

There is a flea clip on each analog cct on the card that determines if it is LS or GS. If it is set to GS then the card will rarely recognize ringing as it is expecting a Ground signal to initiate the call.

The Flea clip (Actually 3 glued together) usually has a white strip on the side showing which side shorts and the cct board will have an L and a G printed on the board showing which side is which.

The flea clip covers 6 pins and shorts either side to the center

Many thanks for the information folks.
Will advise later today (Monday) on success.

Hate the card where the back 2 are hard to change

To jpruder; The jumpers at that location are very hard and awkward to relocate.
Now I am looking for a programmer to do the trunk designation changes in software.
Anyone available?
Dan

very hard and awkward, sure

All you need is needle nose pliers though

This is a physical change, cannot be done via software
