Folks,

My former CDRW was behaving very erratically, meaning I could hear the disc spinning, but it would never start playing. If it did, it took a couple tries. I installed a new one, updated driver for ATAPI, and it worked for about a day. Here's where it gets weird: I insert a disc and it will read the contents, but won't play them on any type of player (WinMed9, QT, Winamp etc) So I see the album in the playlist, but have no love. I've tried known good CDs, updating ATAPI driver and motherboard driver, several restarts, DMA/PIO IDE settings, looked for player conflicts and am not getting anywhere. System is Win2k SP4, Tyan Trinity KT Motherboard, 1.2G Duron, 512M Ram, Soundblaster card. I welcome inquires.

Are you sure everything is okay with your sound board?

If this only apply for audio cd's
it can be a result of the copy protection on them.
Try with an old audio cd 3-4 years old if you have one.
