One of our offices has a week-old CallPilot 4 system running on the new 1005 rack-mount server. It has all of the latest updates and PEPs but today it has started losing voice messages left for people at random. It started out with one user, then a few more complained, and now it seems more widespread, but it is intermittent.

We've been making changes in Message Delivery Configuration and Message Network Configuration trying to get Desktop Messaging to work. Is there something that could have been accidently set or removed that could be causing this? The vendor has been called so it's just a matter of time now I suppose. I've never seen anything like this before.

Thanks,

Greg

how does the msg get lost? a saved msg? and your right i would almost need to recreat the problem to much stock in it. while you are making changes i could see strange problems.. i would build a short script (loop) that did a stat of my vm agents or watch the agents in the cp maint screen..

i am a vendor and that one does not really give a decent starting point.. if the new rls was an upgrade then i would check card vintage and recheck the peps to make sure they are all active

Thanks for the reply, John. The vendor thinks the problem might be with the voice ports so they're going to power down tonight and watch after it comes back up. At first we thought it was user error but as more and more reports came in we started to get an idea something was wrong.

This would happen when calling a DN and leaving a message, express messages and messages composed from other mailboxes. One time you'd be able to leave a message just fine, the next time the message wouldn't arrive in the mailbox. The error and event logs didn't contain anything critical but I doubt we'd know what to look for at this point anyway.

Hopefully a restart will clear things up. Other than this the system has been running just fine in two of our largest offices. We've had Mermail since '92 at all of our sites so CallPilot is still rather new to us.

Thanks,

Greg

I'll check and see which version of desktop they're installing. I believe it is the version that came the installation CDs so it's probably not the very latest one.

The problem turned out to be a setting for the minimum message length that was set too high. The default is 500 milliseconds and it was set much higher.

Thanks,

Greg

glarkin...stay away from the cd's that came with 4.0
it will give you nothing but troubles if you using
microsoft outlook go with 4040432 its has alot of fixes in
it and also CPSECPEP006S.msi is the latest hotfixes
