This build I'm starting with the ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe w/Athlon 64 X2 6000 Dual Core SKT AM2. For memory I have 4X1024 OCZ2P800R22GK and a GeForce 8800GTS 320mb 1.6 HGz DDR3 and a LITE-ON 20X DVD Burner w LightScribe Model 20A1L-05. My question is this; Do I need to replace my DEMON 580 watt for an PCI Express compliant power supply?

Thanks

WIN XP Pro
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe
DEMON Black Chrome 580W
AMD Athelon 2600 Barton 2.1
CORSAIR 1 GByte TwinX DDR Matched
BFG GeForce 6800 256 GT OC
Audigy 2 ZS/Altec Lansing 7.1
ViewSonic 21" G810 Dual Monitors
5 HDD total 600 GB

If I remember right, the Demon has only a 20 pin power connector, and the new board has a 24pin power connector...

so it boils down to this: Yes, you will need to get a new PSU...

Thanks Triple B, I got a new Kingwin Mach 1 600 watt for SLI. That should cover it. But now I have another question.
This board is only 570SLI, is it compatable with 590SLI? I'm guessing that when confronted with 590sli that it would run at 8 and not 16.

on the 570 SLI, when you use SLI both PCIe x16 slots will only work at PCIe x8 speed...

where as the 590 SLI, both would work at full speed...

BigBadBen. Thanks for the info. I wish had been aware of that before I bought this one. Oh well, this is going to be a killer machine anyway.
Had another thought, Will there be any issues with changing my hard drives to the new board? I'm going from 32 bit to 64.

WIN XP Pro - Vista 64.
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Dual PCIe.
AMD Athlon64X2 6000 Dual Core AM2.
Kingwin Mach 1 600watt MA1S.
OCZ Platinum XTC 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (4x1024MB).
XFX GeForce 8800GTS 320Mb XXX DDR3 PCI Express w/Dual DVI & HDTV Out (Retail).
NEC 22" MultiSync FE2111(SB)(Dual Monitors).
Altec Lansing 6.0.
4 HDD total excess

No drives are fully compatible, altough you should do a CLEAN INSTALL (after you backed up your DATA)...

I would go with VISTA 64bit instead of WinXP 64bit...

Good Luck with the build...

if you have any probs just ask in the FORUM...

As far as the SLI speed go, no current graphics card comes close to saturating a x8 bus, so don't worry about the 570 vs 590 from a speed point of view, the other features are the reason to look at an upgrade. If you don't need any of them go with the 570.

Thanks for all the feedback, I'm sure the switch from XP Pro 32 bit to Vista 64 will have it's challenges. L8tr.
