basically a customer of ours phones someone and once they've been put on hold they get their own MOH playing back to them? has anyone seen this problem before??

Post a trace of that. It will tell if the call miraculously crawls back home when held externaly.

This is impossible. How would their system know the other system put them on hold? Was this a one time event, User error? I would verify it with your own system ( I assume you have MOH on your system) to see what happens when they put you on hold.

Or is this happening within an SCN? You did not mention that.

Quick test is to ring the other company from your mobile/cell and have them put you on hold, what do you hear then?

it hasnt just happened once its happened a few times ive also just been told that it happened here at our office earlier this morning.

I have had it once or twice when the other site was using an IPO too and there lines where busy.
SSA showed me that we had enough channels free but still i got waiting for line.
Other numbers worked fine.
Perhaps they use some kind of non hear able tone?

One of our engineers left a customer holdmusic.wav in his folder and then every site he went to got it uploaded. We had about 10 using the same custom music and a very sheepish engineer!!!
