whats up fellows? I could use a little help today.

I am trying to get an xp comp to join a new domain. I have set up the comp and user up on the pdc. When I look at the pdc the comp account shows up to be fine, but when I try to join the domain it makes the comp account disabled. I have all static ip's. Subnet masks and gateway are setup. I did not have this problem setting up another xp machine but cannot think of anything I've done differently.

I would much appreciate any help. Thanks,

eotech

PDC - so nt4 style (not that is matters in this case);

two option I can see right now:

1. reset the machine account w/ something like netdom (ntreskit, probably separate downloadble - I would have to look into that if needed)

2. delete the machine account from the pdc; add the client machine to some workgroup, and after that add the client machine *from the client machine itself* to the domain, letting it create the machine account itself (given a domain admin account, ofcourse).

Either method usually clears up any problems. (though netdom is a lot quicker and simpler to use, if you're into CLI handling)

I am assuming here that you are not running any W2k/XP server machines in your network, or at least running a "full dc setup" ? ---

thanks I am running a win 2000 server but I will try to remove and re-add the account. If you have any more suggestions I would appreciate them.
