I'm not sure if I'm postng this in the proper forum.
My desktop and my laptop both have the XP operating system and XP professional installed. I have Cox Communication as my Service Provider (Cable). My cable modem connects to a router. The Desktop is connected via ethernet cable and the laptop is connected via wireless (I also have the same issue using the ethernet connection).
The problem is that I can not get them to share information. Each computer has a different name and are in the same workgroup. I turned off all of the firewalls; ICS, router, and Norton Security. I've gone through the Share Folders and Security setup, I've gone thru the network setup on each computer and still I can't share folders.
When I had DSL I had no problems sharing folders. As a matter of fact, I just plugged in the ethernet cables and things just worked. I didn't have to setup anything. I moved to a new location and started using Cox and now all of a sudden I can't share. Same computers, same operating systems. Am I missing something simple? Maybe I skipped a step?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
